Trust Technique Practitioner. My name is Kate Wilson and I have always been an advocate for animals.
My first puppy – a border collie
I didn’t have my own dog until I was 40 years old. Then I discovered the challenges of having a puppy! I tried to be gentle and kind but had no idea how to engage her lively collie brain in cooperation. There were many moments of frustration for both of us and I wish I had known about the Trust Technique then.
I started searching for the best ways to train a dog. Some classes were great and some were quite upsetting. I was told to buy a lead that goes over the nose – to stop my puppy from pulling. It didn’t work – she hated it and so did I so it went to the back of the cupboard and never reappeared.
What I’m saying is that we all make mistakes and we learn as we go along.
Moving house – and country
The other great learning for me was when I moved to Spain and couldn’t immediately take my dogs with me. I found someone to live with them in their own home but it was terrible to see them only on holidays and then leave them again. Trust Technique was still something I hadn’t heard of so I carried the guilt and sadness about this until the time when I could use the Trust Technique to bring peace to old trauma.
Relationship problems
Eventually I did manage to take my two collies across to Spain but we were still not in a peaceful situation. My new partner’s dog, a springer spaniel called Duna, didn’t like having new companions and she began to attack one of my collies. We lived like that for over a year! I really understand how stressful it is to have animals that don’t get on. It dominated our lives. We did our best, we kept them separate, we looked for help but again, as I still hadn’t heard of the Trust Technique, I didn’t know how to share peace, release trauma, nor create a safe trusting space for my animals.
Helping Others
Remembering those moments in life where I felt that I failed my animals, has left me with a huge desire to help others in situations that are painful and difficult. I know that the Trust Technique could have made such a huge difference to us.
It is my dream to share this beautiful and effective technique with as many people as possible.
I finally completed my training with both Large and Domestic animals in 2022. I have worked with horses, dogs, donkeys, cats, sheep, chickens, a turkey, goats and a llama.
I am also an acupuncturist for humans and all that I have learnt about energy flow and well-being is helping me in my journey as a Trust Technique Practitioner.
For over 30 years I have been making sculpture – mainly inspired by animals and birds. I also dance tango!
